Our founder, Carrie Stone Freeman, was a composer and was very active in the Los Angeles music societies and salons in the early 20th century. She donated many of her pieces to the Los Angeles Public Library. Please enjoy the following selections of her children’s lullabies and art songs.

Thank you to our friends at the Los Angeles Public Library and Cal State LA for their archival assistance.

Carrie Stone Freeman was friends with Amy Beach, another prominent American composer at the turn of the 20th century. As a symbol of their friendship, she dedicated one of her pieces, Meadowlarks, to Carrie. This work is available on IMSLP.
